Gypsum Board System Q&A

  • What raw materials are used to make gypsum boards?
The main raw material of the core material is 100% environmentally friendly desulfurization gypsum, which is processed with a unique foaming process, combined with different functional adjustments of the board additive formula, and then covered with high-quality environmental protection paper. It is an environmentally friendly board that truly achieves formaldehyde, benzene, and phosphorus free properties.
  • What is nano active manganese?
Nano active manganese is a high-tech catalyst with high catalytic activity due to its nano microscopic size reaching 10-20nm. It can effectively decompose formaldehyde into harmless carbon dioxide and water, and due to its catalytic properties, it does not participate in chemical reactions, so there will be no reduction or performance degradation in the long-term purification of formaldehyde.
  • Why can gypsum board adsorb formaldehyde?
Due to the unique "foaming process" in the production process of gypsum boards, most series of gypsum boards have porous cores. The uniform and dense pores not only reduce the weight of the gypsum board itself, but also improve its physical properties. This further enhances the breathability of gypsum boards, which can effectively absorb harmful gases in the air and regulate indoor humidity. But light adsorption of formaldehyde is still not enough, because if only adsorption cannot actively decompose formaldehyde, then saturation will still produce a "desorption effect" causing secondary pollution.
  • Do we need to reserve gaps between gypsum boards during installation? How much to keep?
During the installation process, a gap of about 3mm should be reserved between the gypsum boards, and the gypsum boards should be parallel to each other. The gaps should not be wide or narrow, and the edges of the boards should not have cracks or broken boards. How to handle gaps to ensure no cracking, please refer to the Jason Seam Treatment System and Jason Corner Treatment System for details.
  • Why are scale markings printed on the surface of gypsum board?
The main purpose is to facilitate the construction of workers, facilitate the installation of the entire piece, determine the position of the keel, and better ensure that each self tapping screw is fixed in the most suitable position to improve the overall system stability.
  • Can gypsum board be used outdoors?
It is basically not possible. Gypsum board is a covering board used for indoor partition walls and ceilings, and is not suitable for outdoor environments. But certain special construction scenarios may also use special functional gypsum boards, such as Jason fiberglass waterproof and fire-resistant board, which was once used in the construction of the middle layer of the ceiling.
  • Can a light steel keel ceiling be made into a special-shaped ceiling?
An overly complex design is not acceptable, but generally curved ceiling partitions are acceptable. Please refer to Jason's curved wall system.
  • Why do we need to use light steel keel for gypsum board ceiling partition walls?
Compared to traditional woodworking techniques such as wooden keel, light steel keel is made of galvanized steel strip processed by cold rolling process, which is lightweight, high-strength, and not easily deformed. Compared to wooden keel, there are two biggest advantages, which are moisture resistance and insect resistance. Even in humid environments, it is not easy to rust and will not deform or crack.
  • What is the difference between Jason Uber board and gypsum board?
Jason Uber high-performance gypsum based fiberboard is essentially still gypsum board. However, due to the special technology independently developed by Jason, the core strength and nail holding force of Uber board can reach a level comparable to that of wooden base board, which can completely replace wooden base board in construction. In terms of environmental performance, it also has the absolute environmental advantage of gypsum board itself.
  • I want to do a design without a main light, but my home has a floor height of only 2.5 meters. What should I do if I'm worried about being too oppressive?
In fact, if the floor height is high enough, traditional ceiling systems can be chosen, while if the floor height is not high enough, card type keel ceiling systems or even seamless ceiling systems can be completely chosen. The actual height occupied by this suspended ceiling can even be controlled within 5cm, so even if the floor height is limited, it can achieve a decoration style without main lights.
